The X Factor has always seen acts come from far and wide – but Ivy Grace Paredes has to be one of the most dedicated after making the trek from the Philippines to perform for the judges tonight.
Luckily for Ivy – and luckily for us – the trip was totally worth it as she blew everyone away with her incredible audition.
Ivy, who named last year’s competitors 4th Impact as an inspiration, explained that she wanted to succeed in the music industry for the sake of her 2-year-old daughter.
But she didn’t make it easy for herself by choosing to sing the Whitney Houston belter ‘All The Man That I Need’.
We don’t know why we were worried though, because Ivy performed the song with such power and strength that we were practically blown off our sofas.
Simon Cowell was basically speechless and wondered what had just happened, while Nicole Scherzinger told him: “She just sang our faces off, pretty much.”
That sounds about right, Nicole – and in fact, Simon couldn’t stop raving about Ivy, who he kept calling “incredible” and “one of the best [contestants] we’ve had”.
Louis was so impressed that he said Ivy was “like a little diva”, while Sharon told her that she had done herself proud. Which we can’t argue with, really.
Obviously, Ivy Grace went straight through to Boot Camp with a clean sweep of yes votes. But then we fell in love with her just that little bit more as she took her high heels off to run over for a Dermot hug.
Truly, a woman after our own hearts.
The X Factor airs on ITV.
