THREE people, including a septuagenarian, died while 13 others were wounded when two passenger vans collided along the highway in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported on Sunday, August 27.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao) information officer, said that the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m., Saturday, August 26, at Sitio Horseshoe in the village of Bitoon, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.
Galvez identified the fatalities as the following: Lloyd Asumbrado, 35, Raul Lasay, 37, and Famelo Lasay, 71.
They were rushed but failed to reach alive in the hospital. Asumbrado and Lasay were both drivers of the two passenger vans that figured in the highway collision.
Investigation showed Asumbrado was driving a passenger van with nine passengers bound for Dipolog City from Sindangan while Lasay was traveling on opposite direction when they collided in a curve road.
Asumbrado was transporting nine passengers while Lasay five at the time of the accident, Galvez said.
