Marine officer, wife survive gun attack in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City, Philippines. (SunStar graphics) AN ENLISTED man of the Philippine Marines and his wife survived a gun attack although wounded in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, Monday, May 1.

The Police Station 5 reported the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the village of Guiwan, 3.40 kilometers east of Zamboanga City.

The police identified the victim as Staff Sergeant Randy Rayteran, a Philippine Marine soldier, and his wife, Analisa. Investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorcycle when shot by one of two men riding on a motorcycle, who tailed them, upon reaching the elementary school of Guiwan.

The police said the victims were on the way home to Guiwan coming from their store in the nearby Tumaga village. The victims managed to seek assistance from the residents, who brought them to the hospital for treatment. Investigation continues aimed to establish the motive of the incident as well as to unmask the suspects’ identities, the police said.
