IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay, Preparations are underway for this year’s annual convention of the Diocesan of Clergy of Mindanao (DCM), scheduled to be held here on February 6-8.
Fr. Mark Anthony Vaguchay, Diocese of Ipil chancellor, told the Philippine News Agency that some 500 clergymen, consisting of bishops, priests and deacons from Mindanao’s 21 archdioceses and dioceses, are expected to attend the convention.
Vaguchay said the clergymen will come from Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Ipil (Zambasuli); Dipolog, Ozamiz, Pagadian, Iligan and Marawi (DOPIM); Davao, Digos, Tagum and Mati (DADITAMA); Cagayan, Butuan, Surigao, Tandag and Malaybalay (CABUSTAM); and Kidapawan, Marbel and Cotabato (KIDMACO).
He said that Bishop Julius Tonel will welcome the clergymen during the opening mass to be held at the Saint Joseph “The Worker” Cathedral in this town.
Tonel was appointed as first bishop by Pope Benedict XVI when the latter elevated the then Prelature of Ipil to a Diocese, the 58th in the Philippines, on May 1, 2010.
Vaguchay said this year’s DCM convention is anchored on the theme, “Priest Building Community and Posterity Communion”.
He said the theme is in line with the pastoral direction of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) “Year of the Parish”. (PNA)
