Gunmen rob passenger bus in Zamboanga Sibugay

GUNMEN have held up and robbed a passenger bus along the highway of Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Monday, September 12.
Zamboanga Sibugay Police Director Romulo Cleve Taboso said the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. Monday in the village of Mirangan, Siay municipality.

Investigation showed the bus of the Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI), with body number 9564 and driven by Jude Amantiad, was bound for Pagadian City when two of the passengers declared the heist and ordered the driver to stop the vehicle.

Three other suspects, aboard two motorcycles, arrived and divested the passengers of more or less P20,000 and $1,500, as well as other valuables.

Taboso said one of the suspects was wounded as one of the passengers, who happened to be a soldier, shot the last gunman who stepped out of the bus.

The wounded suspect, who was hit in the neck, was rescued by his cohorts. They escaped aboard two motorcycles.

Taboso said recovered at the crime scene was a caliber .45 pistol with four ammunition, belonging to one of the five suspects, and a deformed slug of caliber .38 revolver.

Investigation continues in a bid to unmask the suspects, and hospitals where the wounded suspect could seek treatment are monitored.
