Former Lanao Sur town official falls in drug bust

A FORMER municipal councilor of Malabang, Lanao del Sur was arrested in a buy-bust operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI inside Room 320, Sampaguita Inn at Quirino Avenue corner Camus Street around 10 a.m. yesterday.

Noli Nephi Dimaandal, spokesperson of PDEA XI, identified the suspect as Norwaffy B. Balindong, resident of Waffy building, Chinatown, Malabang.

Dimaandal said Balindong has been placed under surveillance for weeks his arrest yesterday.

Balindong was arrested after selling a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to a police buyer. Agents also seized from him another sachet of shabu and a matchbox containing dried marijuana leaves.

On Tuesday, a “big-time” drug pusher was also arrested in an operation in Purok Via Vida, Barangay Datu Abdul Dadia, Panabo City in Davao del Norte around 4:20 p.m.

He was identified as Fredie Opoy Eran, 41, laborer, and resident of Purok Caimito, Km. 31 in Panabo. He reportedly sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover for P1,000.

Further seizer from him were 13 medium sachets of shabu weighing about 20 grams worth P100,000. Also confiscated from him was one .45 caliber pistol with live ammunition.

The suspects are now detained in PDEA XI for filing of appropriate case in violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
