Electric coop holds “Brigada Electric Check 2017”

PAGADIAN CITY, 18 May 2017 – As part of its corporate social responsibility and as a consistent partner of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela, the Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative I (ZAMSURECO I) conducts “Brigada Electric Check” in all public elementary and secondary schools, churches, chapels, mosques and some government offices under its area of coverage.

ZAMSURECO I General Manager Jose Raul A. Saniel said that this year is the 9th Brigada Balik Eskwela Electric Check and the 6th Local Government Unit (LGU) and Churches Electric Check conducted by ZAMSURECO I within the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

This year’s activity carries the theme: “Kabalikat ng Mamamayan Para sa Kaligtasan ng mga Paaralan,” GM Saniel said.

The said activity is an integral part of the Coop’s corporate social responsibility aimed at promoting electrical safety in educational institutions by means of securing the integrity of electrical connections of public school classrooms and environment, Saniel added.

The Electric Coop has organized 16 teams composed of technical men and women to conduct the simultaneous electrical check in their assigned areas starting May 15 to 19, 2017.

On the other hand, the commemoration of National Electrical Safety Month is spearheaded by the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), a non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to promoting electrical safety in the home, school and workplace.

This annual campaign also aims to educate key audiences about the steps that can be taken in order to reduce the number of electrically-related fires, fatalities, injuries and property loss.
