ZAMBOANGA CITY, The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 9 is set to implement a program here in the region to help the out-of-school youths (OSYs) find jobs.
The program, known as Job Start program, has been implemented in the cities of Davao, Cebu and Manila and is now being expanded and brought to Region 9.
The pilot areas in Region 9 includes the are cities of Dipolog, Pagadian and Zamboanga, according to DOLE Region 9 Director Sisinio Cano.
Cano said the Job Start program includes a month-long training on life skills competency, apprenticeship and employment.
He said DOLE would finance the technical training, while partners in the private sector would pay the wage of the beneficiary – OSYs during the apprenticeship period.
He said they are just waiting for the implementing guidelines from DOLE central office to start the implementation of the program here in the region.
“The program would enhance the employability of identified beneficiaries,” he added. (PNA)
