A teenage robber who attacked a policeman with a knife was killed following a robbery at a market in Salug town in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Norte.
Jemart Pastor died from loss of blood due to a gunshot wound in the leg. He died while being rushed to the hospital. His companion Windell Batican, 14, was arrested, but two other alleged robbers – Kenken Malic, 19, and Junrey Gumandol, 18, managed to escape and were being hunted down by the police.
The four suspects were accused of attacking a policeman who discovered the robbery at one of the stalls in the market. Instead of heading to surrender, the suspects ganged up on the cop, hitting him with wood with Pastor stabbing him.
The body of the slain suspect was handed over to his family. Police said it recovered the loot left behind by the other gang members.
