An elected government official, who has turned himself in to authorities for being a drug pusher, was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police disclosed Monday.
Councilor of Barangay Magdaup, Ipil town in Zamboanga Sibugay, 46-year-old Ben Hassier Anduhol, was shot at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Sitio Malapayon, Barangay Poblacion, also in Ipil, police spokesman, Supt. Rogelio Alabata, said.
Alabata said that Anduhol was seated outside his ancestral home with his wife when two men riding a motorcycle passed by and repeatedly shot the barangay official.
He said Anduhol’s wife, Juvy, rushed him to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
He said operatives recovered five empty shells and a deformed slug from a .45-caliber pistol from the crime scene.
Alabata said that based on the record of the Ipil Police, Anduhol surrendered last July 28 in response to the Oplan Double Barrel campaign of the police. (PNA)
