Zamboanga del Sur Representative Aurora Cerilles is seeking the Sandiganbayan’s approval for her four-nation trip abroad with her husband, who represents the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP).
In her seven-page motion to travel, Cerilles said she intends to join her husband, BSP senior vice president and Zamboanga del Sur Governor Antonio, in attending the 41st World Scout Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, on August 12.
Cerilles said she also wants to join her husband as he travels to Tbilisi, Georgia on August 19 for a two-day event with the Scouts of Georgia.
Antonio is scheduled to sign a friendship agreement with the Scouts of Georgia in its national headquarters in Tbilisi.
The lawmaker said they will then travel to Yerevan, Armenia and Istanbul, Turkey, for one week from August 22 to 29 as tourists “in order to observe the way of life of the people” and explore the two countries.
Cerilles appealed to the Sandiganbayan to issue an order temporarily suspending the hold departure order issued by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation and allow her to leave the Philippines.
Cerilles is facing one count of malversation for allegedly entering into multiple radio broadcasting contracts with Baganian Broadcasting Corporation with a sum of P487,400 despite violations in government procurement rules.
