ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A civilian was injured in bomb explosions along the highway in a remote village in this city yesterday.
The victim was identified only as Luis.
Chief Inspector Ramon Bautista, Station 2 chief, said the first explosion occurred while an armored van was passing in Sitio Marangan, Barangay Muti in Curian district while another bomb went off near an Army detachment.
Police said the first explosion could have been aimed at the armored van while the second blast was meant to divert responding military personnel.
Bautista said the van, which came from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, was reportedly delivering money to this city.
