ONE person died while seven others were injured in a vehicular accident in Zamboanga del Sur, Monday, May 1, the police reported Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Sofronio Ecaldre, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. in the village of Baloyboan, Pagadian City.
Ecaldre identified the fatality as Andres Manacap, 52 of Panabo, Davao del Sur. Wounded were the following: Roberto Lacasa, 50, tricycle driver; Enriquita Albano, 37; Elvin Albano, 39; Renante Babao, 37; Rolando Manacap, 41; Mae Ann Mancap, 12; and, Lovely Keith Albano, three.
Investigation showed the victims were aboard a tricycle that rolled twice and fell into the gutter of the road after Lacasa lost control of the steering bar when the vehicle’s break conked out while they were traversing the descending road at Purok Tisa in the village of Baloyboan, Pagadian City.
Ecaldre said they were traveling to the municipality of Tukuran coming from Pagadian City at the time of the incident. Ecaldre said the victims were brought to Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center for treatment but he did not reach the hospital alive, the attending physician declared. The other passengers were reported to be in critical condition while Lacasa sustained minor injury, Ecaldre said.
