Four people were arrested after being caught with at least 500 grams of shabu at a police checkpoint in Lanao del Sur on Friday.
Senior Superintendent John Guyguyon, acting chief of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, identified the suspects as Alex Macasasa, Ansary Fahad Disoma, Fatima Billa and Abden Macasasa.
The four suspects were arrested by policemen manning a checkpoint in Lumbayangue town.
Also seized from the suspects were P10,000 cash.
Guyguyon said that according to the suspects, the drugs seized from them came from a Manila, but they could not name its main source.
They said they get their drugs supply from a contact in the province.
Police are currently tracing the main source of the drugs seized from the suspects.
Meanwhile, Guyguyon said that drug personalities are attempting to take advantage of the ongoing conflict in Marawi City, also in Lanao del Sur.
He said that initial investigations showed that the suspects have no direct links to the Maute group, which authorities said are getting funding from the illegal drug trade.
