2 fishermen missing in Zamboanga Sibugay

TWO fishermen, including a teenager, failed to return home and were feared dead after they went out fishing off the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Tuesday, May 9. Reported missing and feared dead were Jose

Reported missing and feared dead were Jose Bucoy, 37, and Ruel Alimping, 13, both residents of Purok Acacia in the village of Buluan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Zamboanga Sibugay police reported that the Zamboanga Sibugay police reported that Bucoy and Alimping were last seen fishing in Pulo Pinya, Tungawan town, around noontime Sunday, May 7.

They were among the group of fishermen from Buluan, Ipil, who went out fishing in the waters of Tungawan.

The others were Lito Pable, 36; Willie Alimping, 44; and Romel Alimping, 10. They departed Buluan around 10 p.m. Saturday and stayed for two days in the village of Linguisan, Tungawan.

From Linguisan, they also went near the vicinity of Pulo Pinya to catch fish and returned home safely.

Policemen from Tungawan and troops from the Army’s 6th Special Forces Battalion recovered the motorboat of Bucoy and Alimping during a search and rescue operation around 6 a.m. Monday in Pulo Pinya, Tungawan.

The police said no bodies were found aboard the motorboat and the victims’ belongings were intact except for the broken bamboo connected to the rudder. Police said efforts to locate the whereabouts of Bucoy and Alimping continue.
